Newbury, United Kingdom

In a lovely quiet area near the countryside, but only 50 minutes by train to London, Paddington

Introducing

I am a retired journalist/photographer/teacher, who will soon be 80 years old. My wife, who is 14 years younger, is a retired teacher who loves painting and pottery. We both enjoy travel, and have visited Australlia. the USA, Thailand, Malaysia, Hong Kong and many countries in Europe. For nine months we lived in the Canary Islands. As we are both retired, we are free to travel at any time, but would be particularly interested in autumn and spring trips, with stays ranging from a fortnight to three months, depending on destination and distance involved. We would not want to travel to the other side of the world for two weeks' holiday. We are flexible about destinations - anywhere from Australia and New Zealand to Asia, plus any warm European country.

About Our Home

We have a four bedroomed detached house in a quiet cul de sac, with a large living-dining room, bathroom, kitchen and separate toilet. In our present arrangement, we have one master bedroom with king-size bed, two rooms with single beds, and a fourth bedroom converted into a study. The house is double-glazed and has gas central heating. The kitchen has a dish-washer and other modern appliances. A 40 inch modern cable television is offered, and more books than you could read in a year. There is a fair-sized garden with fruit trees and lawns, and a paved area and garden furniture at the rear for sitting out in fine weather. Both of us are non-smokers. We have a car each -- fairly ancient --and would be prepared to discuss an exchange of vehicles if that is required. Ideally, we would prefer to exchange with a non-smoking retired couple like ouselves, but we are definitely flexible and will consider anything. I will add some house photographs soon.
